Meet Gennifer Geer.
Environmentalist, advocate, and community organizer.
I believe in energetic public service. I’m a government & policy professional with 10 years of experience, and I want to build an Evanston that’s responsible, adaptable, and livable for all.
I currently work at the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, focusing on community engagement, environmental justice issues, and advising a responsible budget. I also run my own policy consulting business, where my specialty is renewable energy development in public schools.
Growing up in a military family, I built strong childhood memories visiting Evanston’s beaches and parks. Five years ago, I fulfilled a lifelong dream of moving here to pursue graduate research. I’ve since received my MA from Northwestern University and built a career in public service.
I first got involved in political action by working with my State Senator on environmental justice on Lake Michigan, advocating for lakefront protection and resources to address a neglected nuclear power plant in Zion, Illinois. I am also a founding member of the Northwestern University Graduate Workers union, NUGW-UE Local 1122. Today, as a leader in the Democratic Party, I volunteer my time uplifting women in politics.
If elected, I would be the first Japanese American and first Gen Z member of the Evanston City Council.
“I fell in love with Evanston — from its diverse architecture to charming small businesses to abundant green space, this is a place that brings out the best in people.”
